England MU21s squad named for Portugal and France

The England under-21s squad to play Portugal and France in Bristol this month has been named

Young Lions head coach Lee Carsley has selected a 24-man squad for the games, which will be the group’s first preparation matches ahead of next summer’s UEFA U21 EURO Finals.

England sealed their place in the Finals last month, and they will head to Albania and Serbia next June looking to win what would be a third successive U21 EURO title.

And they will face two nations who will also be heading to the Finals, with Portugal first up at Ashton Gate Stadium on Friday 13 November (7.30pm GMT).

France are the visitors for the second game on Monday 16 November (7.30pm GMT) with tickets for both fixtures now on sale for supporters.

Both games will also be streamed live and exclusively on the England app.

Among Carsley’s squad, there are first MU21 call-ups for Arsenal forward Max Dowman and Norwich City’s Jovon Makama, while Liverpool’s Trey Nyoni, Everton's Harrison Armstrong and Divine Mukasa of West Ham are also named in the squad after joining the group from the MU20s during the last international window.
