Details confirmed for Lionesses' tie with Greece
England head to Leicester for second leg of FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 qualification play-off
England will return to the East Midlands as they welcome Greece to the home of Leicester City on Tuesday 13 October for the second leg of their FIFA Women’s World Cup Round 1 play-off.
Sarina Wiegman’s side visit the King Power Stadium [kick-off at 7.30pm BST] for the third time, having most recently played there in June 2025 recording a dominant 7-0 victory against Jamaica in a ‘send-off’ before EURO 2025, which the Lionesses went on to win.
With details for both legs now confirmed, the Lionesses will travel to Crete for the first leg at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion on Friday 9 October. The match kicks off at 7.30pm local time, 5.30pm BST.
The match will mark the first-ever meeting between England and Greece in women’s senior international football. Both legs will be broadcast live across ITV Sport.
Tickets for the game in Leicester will go on sale exclusively to England+ members from Friday 21 to Wednesday 26 August. England+ is the new official membership for Lionesses fans, offering priority access to home match tickets.
Any remaining tickets will go on general sale from Thursday 27 August.

Sarina Wiegman said: “I am looking forward to getting the squad back together after having four months away. We know what our objective is for these two games and exactly what we need to do to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
“Greece is a new opponent for us, which brings a different challenge. We will prepare thoroughly and be ready to perform across both matches.
“Leicester City’s stadium is a great venue and one where we have enjoyed positive experiences on our previous visits. We always receive fantastic support from our fans and are looking forward to feeling that energy again.”
Should England progress to Round 2 of the World Cup play-offs, they will face either Slovakia or Ukraine over two legs during the final international window of the year. The tie would take place between 24 November and 5 December.
The winners at that stage will secure qualification for next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
