England women’s deaf squad chosen for EUROs

The Para Lionesses will be in action at a major tournament next month

The England women’s deaf squad has been named for the European Championship Finals in Croatia in March.

Head coach Steve Daley has selected a 13-strong group for the tournament, which will see the Para Lionesses play four initial games before the final rankings will be decided with two classification matches.

The tournament is taking place in Porec between 10 and 21 March, with games to be played at the Zatika Sports Hall where England will kick-off their first game against Poland on Tuesday 10 March (2.30pm GMT).

They then take on Italy on Thursday 12 March (9am GMT), Switzerland on Saturday 14 March (2.30pm GMT) and France on Sunday 15 March (4pm GMT), before the ranking games are scheduled for Thursday 19 March and Saturday 21 March with opponents and kick-off times to be confirmed.

Speaking about the tournament, Daley said: "First of all, congratulations to the 13 players that have been selected to represent England at the up-and-coming seventh European Futsal Championships in Croatia.

"As a squad, we're really proud and honoured to represent England in a major tournament and will endeavour to do our best and wear the shirt with pride as we compete with the other nations to become European champions."
