England squad announced for the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup

The England squad for the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup 2026 in Argentina has been named, ahead of the tournament between 17 and 23 October.

The Para Lions head to South America with the ambition of going one further than their silver medal at the last world championship in Australia in 2023.

And they will open their 2027 campaign against the team they met in the final at that tournament, and the EPFA Nations Cup in 2025, when they take on France on Saturday 17 October before facing a further eight games against a variety of global opposition.

Head coach Adam McEvoy has named an eight-player squad for the trip, which will see England play nine games in the first phase of the competition before the final two days see placement matches along with semi-finals and the final on Friday 23 October.

Speaking about the tournament: McEvoy said: "Both the squad and staff alike are really looking forward to the World Cup.

"After some reflection on how we could improve on our efforts from the European Championships, the squad have worked incredibly hard in recent months to sharpen our play.

"Alongside some useful friendlies in July, we're full of anticipation to showcase our game and style of play on a new continent."
