This year’s ESTC Pitch Day was a great success, and we’re thrilled to continue this annual tradition. Plans are already underway for next year’s event, and we’re excited to see who will represent Bobby Moore, Harry Kane, Paul Gascoigne, and David Beckham elevens in 2026!
As always, participants will be selected via the ‘70%/30%’ ballot rule. 70% of players will be top cappers, and 30% will be drawn at random.
A huge thank you to all the ESTC members who participated and supported the event. We can’t wait to see you next year as Harry Kane FC defend their trophy!

ESTC Pitch Day 2025 match report
Harry Kane FC were victorious over David Beckham FC in a deciding penalty shootout in this year’s Pitch Day.
This is the third time this special event has been held, hosted by the England Supporters Travel Club, which rewards fans who’ve travelled far and wide across England and Europe in 2025, with the opportunity of playing on the hallowed turf at Wembley. Over 3,000 fans applied, but only a lucky 44 were selected to take part.
All fans experienced the match day life of an England player, they got ready in the famous changing rooms, had professional warm-ups and walked out of the iconic tunnel to The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ and sang the national anthem.
In the first semi-final between Bobby Moore FC and Harry Kane FC, the match was exhilarating and end-to-end. In the fourth minute, Bobby Moore FC were through on goal from the counter, but Bradley McFadden’s attempt just glanced past the post.
Just a minute later, Kane FC scored the opener when Danny Gardner slotted the ball home from close range past Moore FC keeper Antony Robson.
The game intensified with lots of quick interchanges within the midfield, with slick passing required to break either side’s high defensive line.
In the 17th minute, though, Moore FC were level when Jack Bevington’s shot gave keeper Dow no chance of reaching it.
However, five minutes later, Kane FC pulled ahead when Gardner scored his second goal of the game. Collecting the ball from 25 yards, he evaded the Moore’s defence, spotted Robson off the line, and struck a powerful, looping shot which found the top corner. Jubilation amongst Kane FC and their supporters, as they pulled ahead with only eight minutes to go.
However, there was much more drama to follow. A corner from Moore FC in added time resulted in a shot from outside the area striking a Kane FC player's arm, and a penalty was awarded by the referee.
Forward McFadden stepped up to take the spot kick, and placed the ball home into the bottom corner to level the scoring at 2-2.
The 30 minutes had elapsed, which meant the match would be decided by a penalty shootout.
Kane FC were victorious in the shootout 3-1, with midfielder Callum McGregor striking the ball past the opposing keeper, sealing their place in the final.
After having played on the hallowed turf of Wembley, midfielder Bevington said: “It was brilliant. It was a bit surreal really, especially scoring at the end. It’s a really good experience and I think it’s really good that the Supporters Club put this on. I’d applied a couple of times and never thought I’d get through.”
On his passion for supporting England, he said: “I joined just after EURO 2004. I’ve been a member ever since. I’ve been to seven tournaments over that time, a couple of World Cups and the Euros. I go home and away fairly regularly. I met some lads in South Africa in 2010 and we’re best mates now. We still go everywhere together. We actually had a planning meeting on Sunday for the World Cup next year.
“Without being part of the supporters club, you haven’t really got that chance to get official tickets. I’ve been a member for over 20 years now, and it’s definitely worth joining!”
Meanwhile, Bobby Moore FC’s Jordan Halford said: “It's amazing, just a great group of people to play with. As soon as you get over the white line, it's just another game. If Tuchel is watching, I'm 36, it's never too late!”
On his love for international football, he commented: “I’ve always loved international football. I prefer it to club football, it’s just so pure. You can’t sign any players; you get what you’re given. I still think it’s the highest level of football. When England play, it just brings the whole country together. In international football, you’re all in the same boat.”
“My first (England) game was on my 17th birthday. Steve McLaren dropped David Beckham at Old Trafford, so I wasn't happy with that. My first tournament was EURO 2016. Obviously, it was a horrible way to go out against Iceland, but since then I’ve been to every tournament.”
On his commitment to supporting England, he said: “You’ve got to keep going. It’s just a bug that you can’t stop. Some of the best nights of your life are just watching England. I was in Latvia on a Tuesday night. I flew from Chicago to Latvia to watch one game of football, but you don’t even think about that.”
The second match to determine the other finalists was between Paul Gascoigne and David Beckham.
In a match of high-scoring quality, Beckham FC Forward Ross Patrick claimed his first Wembley hat-trick.
Within the first 60 seconds, he slalomed through Gascoigne’s defence, rounded keeper Bradley Saunders to slot the ball into an open net.
But three minutes later, it looked as though Beckham FC would double their lead. Patrick, through on goal once more, chipped the ball over Saunders, only for the ball to just sail wide of the post.
The game was evenly contested, with the forward proving to be a key area to either team’s build-up play and a source of attacking threat.
With nine minutes to go, Patrick scored his second of the evening, a scramble in the penalty area from a corner, forcing Saunders into action, only for his save to fall into the path of Patrick to head the ball home from three yards.
A minute later, Gascoigne FC were back in the match after a lobbed attempt from 25 yards looped over Beckham FC keeper Lee Cowell to make it 2-1.
However, Beckham FC soon retained their two-goal cushion. Defender Mark Corden was played through on goal. He dinked the ball over Saunders and volleyed the ball into the net.
With one minute remaining, Beckham FC booked their place in the final when Patrick chipped Saunders and powerfully volleyed the ball into a vacant net to make it a 4-1 result.
In the final part of the day, the two winners and losers of each semi-final would face off in a penalty shootout to determine the outcome of the tournament and the eventual winners.
In the third-place penalty shootout, Paul Gascoigne FC defeated Bobby Moore FC.
Ben Clarke, defender for Bobby Moore FC, said: “I started by going to the home games. I really enjoyed my first few games and then joined the Travel Club. I did all the home games to get my points and then got lucky with a Montenegro ticket away. That was my first away game, and then it just built from there.
“Once you reach near the top, you start recognising a lot of faces. You go away to these random European places that you probably wouldn’t visit otherwise.
“Going to Russia and seeing the winning penalty shootout against Colombia in the round of 16 was really enjoyable. I loved that. It was an enjoyable time at the time and a good experience.”
On playing on the Wembley pitch, he said: “It is unbelievable. Big thanks to the Travel Club for putting this on. That pitch is massive, and it is not for the faint-hearted!”
In the final, Harry Kane FC defeated David Beckham FC to claim this year’s trophy.
The day was enjoyed by players, spectators, and officials alike. Hasan Akyol, one of the assistant referees, said: “I am really excited to be here and to share this experience. It’s surreal.
“I’ve always loved watching football and playing football with friends, but I soon realised I did not have the quality to pursue football at a high level as a player.
“I knew people who were refereeing, and I saw the things they were able to experience, where they travelled, and that really inspired me to take this journey myself.”
