Three Lions Daily: What's coming up for England today?

Find out what's on the agenda for the Three Lions on Sunday 5 July 2026...

England will take on Mexico in their FIFA World Cup Round of 16 tie at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City this evening, but what does preparation on a matchday look like? Here, you can find out in our Three Lions Daily.

It’s matchday for Thomas Tuchel’s team as they look to reach the quarter-final stage for a fifth-straight major tournament.

There will be plenty of content and build-up along the way with kick-off scheduled for 1am BST (6pm local time).

Final preparations and travel

The squad will have breakfast before a team meeting is held at 11:50am local time. The players will then have time to follow their own preparatory schedules ahead of a pre-match meal at 2:30pm.

Thomas Tuchel will then hold a second team meeting at 3:20pm before the Three Lions travel to the Azteca Stadium at 3:40pm. Kick-off is at 6pm.

Media duties

Thomas Tuchel and Jordan Henderson spoke to the media yesterday ahead of tonight’s game while Marcus Rashford and Morgan Rogers also previewed England’s clash with Mexico.

The game will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer where pre-match interviews will be conducted as part of the programme.
