Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions are back in full training as they prepare to face Norway in Miami

England geared up for their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final with Norway with a full training session at their Kansas City base on Wednesday.

After focusing on rest and recovery following their thrilling 3-2 over Mexico in the round of 16 on Sunday, the majority of Thomas Tuchel’s squad returned to the grass at Swope Soccer Village.

Marc Guéhi, Reece James and Declan Rice were absent from the morning session as they instead worked on individual programmes elsewhere ahead of Saturday’s tie.

Jordan Henderson, meanwhile, is recovering at the team hotel having undergone successful surgery on his arm following an injury sustained after the win in Mexico City.

Attention has now firmly turned to the quarter-final at Miami Stadium, with a last-four meeting with Argentina or Switzerland the prize for the winners.

The Three Lions have two more days of training before flying to Florida for the tie, which kicks off at 10pm BST (5pm local time) at the home of NFL franchise the Miami Dolphins.

England put in a memorable performance to knock out co-hosts Mexico, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice in the first half and Harry Kane netting a penalty after the break as Tuchel’s side played for more than 40 minutes with 10 men following Jarell Quansah’s red card.

The victory came after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over DR Congo in the round of 32. The Three Lions had previously topped Group L courtesy of wins against Croatia and Panama, and a draw with Ghana.

Reflecting on the win over Mexico, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford said: “That was unreal.

“You'll never get moments like that again in football. Come to the Azteca, it is once in a lifetime. A bucket list memory. Everyone is talking about altitude. It was us against them.

“We rolled our sleeves up and we got the victory. It was an all-round gutsy togetherness performance. That is what we are. We're England and that's what we do.”

Expanding on his own performance, which saw him make a number of big saves and vital clearances late in the game, Pickford added: "I was in the moment.

“We all know when we come into pressure situations, I have got that character where I step up and I have got that mindset where I feel unbelievable.

“That's why I put the hard work in on the training ground and away from the training ground. Moments like that you have got to enjoy.

“It just had everything that puts you on the edge of your seat, that's what football's about. It shows our togetherness and it was a special night.

"I think you saw the standard I set myself tonight in producing saves in big moments, coming for crosses, it's where I aim to be and keep improving. Big moments in big times, that's where I am.

"I'm one of the most experienced lads in the group and when called upon you've got to roll your sleeves up. It was a great game for me and that's a standard in itself."
