England defender reflects on viral prank following Three Lions' 3-2 win over Mexico on Lions' Den connected by EE

John Stones has confirmed, with a smile, that his shoulder is fully recovered ahead of England’s next match with Norway.

The Three Lions defender went viral this week when a video taken in the England dressing room following their victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium saw him feign a shoulder injury during the post-match celebrations, prompting boss Thomas Tuchel into a panicked look.

Of course, after a few seconds Stones turned that 'injury' into a dance move, much to the relief of Tuchel and the joy of the dressing room.

"It's feeling better now, it's feeling better - it has its ups and downs,” joked Stones, speaking alongside Elliot Anderson on the latest edition of Lions’ Den connected by EE.

"I tried to keep a straight face as I was doing it because I saw he [Thomas] was concerned and thinking, 'has he actually hurt himself?'

“Especially after what Hendo [Jordan Henderson] had just done outside, he didn't know what was going to come but it was good vibes in there.”

Since that thrilling victory at Mexico City Stadium, the Three Lions squad have been back at their basecamp in Kansas City as they now turn their focus to Saturday’s quarter-final with Norway.

"We've had a different kind of week, with two down days to kind of soak everything in and recover from the game,” Stones said.

"Our first session today [Wednesday] was more of a drip-feed of information into us, not bombarding us with too much.

"This morning, we had a bit of self-reflection on what we did in the game and how we did it and the manager spoke really well.

“We've got two more days now, which will ramp up towards the game in more detail, what we want to do in the game and what we see from them.

"We approach every game the same, with the same respect to whoever we're playing and I always believe we have to focus on us first and foremost and keep building on what we've done in all the games.”
