The Bournemouth midfielder gained some valuable experience in the Florida camp with the England men's squad

An excellent season for Alex Scott was rewarded with a call-up to England men's pre-FIFA World Cup 2026 camp, as the Bournemouth star enjoyed a ‘great experience’ in Florida.

Having starred at youth level for England, winning the UEFA EURO under-19 and under-21 championships, the 22 year old’s breakthrough season at Bournemouth earned him a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s preparation camp in Florida.

Although the midfielder did not feature in either of the Three Lions' warm-up victories against New Zealand and Costa Rica, Scott was delighted to be a part of the head coach's plans before the World Cup.

“I got the call to say I wasn’t in the squad, which was disappointing at first, but he [Tuchel] said pretty quickly afterwards that he really wanted me to come and be a part of prep camp, he said I deserve it for the season I’ve had.

“It’s been really good. I’ve enjoyed it, being part of the group and helping them to prepare in the best way possible for the tournament is amazing.

“It’s a great experience for me and the other lads who have been brought in as well. We’re just taking it in really and trying to do as much as we can to help these boys go and win the trophy.

“The standard is at a high level and it’s driven by Hendo [Jordan Henderson] and Harry [Kane], who every single day are on it, and they make sure we are as well.”

Joshua King, Ethan Nwaneri and Rio Ngumoha joined Scott as the young quartet to take part in the preparation camp, and the Bournemouth player highlighted what stood out the most to him during his first experience with the senior team.

“Just how quick it is, the level of players here - they are the best in the world, so to be a part of it, to be training with them and to be here is a huge privilege for me.

“The standard in training is sky high, especially leading into a tournament; everyone wants to be the first name on the teamsheet and play in every game.

“Everyone’s pushing each other in training, which is very important, and us boys who have come in are doing our best to help out where needed.

“It feels like a really close group here. You can speak to anyone, get advice about anything and just get to know one another off the pitch. I think that’s probably one of my favourite parts of getting to know people.

“The training as well and being able to train with the best players in the world is really good and something I definitely enjoy, but the whole experience of being out here and being a part of it is something I don’t take for granted.”
