After proving to be a key player for England MU21s in their UEFA U21 EURO success in the summer of 2025, the midfielder was called into the senior squad by Thomas Tuchel for the first internationals of the 2025-26 season in August 2025.
A box-to-box player with ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch, Anderson had proved to be an important player for Nottingham Forest in an impressive campaign at the City Ground in 2024-25, having made the switch to the City Ground from his boyhood club Newcastle United.
As a youngster, Whitley Bay-raised Anderson was on the books at St. James' Park since the age of eight after playing for the famous Wallsend Boys' Club in grassroots football in the north east.
He came through the academy ranks before working his way into the first-team squad and also enjoyed a loan spell with Bristol Rovers in the second half of the 2022-23 season, helping the Gas to promotion from League Two.
Returning to Newcastle, he went on to make over 40 appearances for the Magpies before Forest signed him in July 2024.
On the international front, Anderson represented Scotland from U16 through to U21 level, before he switched international allegiance to the Three Lions and becoming a part of Carsley's MU21s squad.
