The Manchester United forward was called into the England senior squad for the first time for a training camp at St. George’s Park in September 2020.

A regular with England’s WU17, WU19 and WU21 squads, including the experience of representing the Young Lionesses at the 2016 FIFA U17 World Cup in Jordan, she started her career with Manchester United’s centre of excellence.

From there, she joined Blackburn Rovers where she spent three seasons before signing for Manchester City in 2016.

She found it hard to make the first-team breakthrough with City, so when a chance to return to United came up in 2018, she took it as one of seven players who returned to the club that summer having played for them at youth level before their women’s team was formed.

Since then, she’s blossomed into one of United's key performers and caught the eye of former England boss Phil Neville.

But it was following the arrival of Hege Riise and then Sarina Wiegman which saw Toone elevated into the senior set-up, quickly becoming a regular and popular member of the squad.

Toone has scored consistently under Wiegman and bagged hat-tricks away to Latvia and North Macedonia during World Cup qualifying.
