Harry Kane has been presented with the England men’s senior top goalscorer award in association with M&S Food for the 2022-23 season.

The Three Lions captain and Bayern Munich striker scored eight goals last season to land the inaugural award, which has been created in association with England partners M&S Food.

And the award caps off a campaign which also saw him become the England men’s senior team record goalscorer, with his penalty against Italy in March seeing him usurp Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 goals.

After that, Kane added another four goals to his tally to leave him with a total of 58 goals from 84 appearances at the end of the season.

Kane collected the trophy this week at St. George’s Park, where the England squad are currently preparing for Saturday’s EURO 2024 qualifying game against Ukraine and next week’s 150th anniversary heritage match against Scotland.

"In general, I don't like to think about it [number of goals] too much, I just focus on the game ahead and my job is to help the team by scoring goals and thankfully I've been able to do that,” said Kane, after being presented with the award.

"To get the all-time England goalscoring record against Italy was magical, and that was a special night and one I won't forget.

"There's a lot of hard work and dedication gone in before those sort of moments, so to be able to share it with team mates, coaches and the staff that were there who know how much it meant to me was special.”

The partnership between England and M&S Food was announced in May 2022, with the aim of using football to inspire families to make healthier eating choices as part of their ‘Eat Well, Play Well’ campaign.

And Kane has previously spoken about how healthy eating has helped him in his career as part of our ‘The Greater Game’ programme.
