Take a look back at some of the iconic moments you may have missed from this summer's tournament

THE STORY OF EURO 2025

It’s been a month to remember as the Lionesses were crowned European champions at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, with special moments to cherish both on and off the pitch.

With the tournament coming to a close, here are ten moments you may have missed from the summer.

Shooting hoops

Football isn’t the only sport the Lionesses a knack for, as we found out. From darts to table tennis to basketball, the players enjoyed trying their hand at some trick shots, captured on camera by our very own Esme Morgan.

“I thought, it’d be a great TikTok if we got everyone to do a little trick shot for the camera,” she explained. “I went around recruiting everyone and I thought I’d have a few people who weren’t as enthusiastic and didn’t want to take part but everyone was buzzing about it. People just kept trickling in saying, ‘Ez, I’ve got my trick shot idea’. It was a lot of fun.”

Bathtime gifts

Alex Greenwood hit a milestone in the Lionesses’ Group D opener against France, becoming the latest England centurion to reach 100 caps and the defender was presented with a gift on That Lionesses Podcast to mark the achievement: a Swiss themed rubber duck.

“I’ve got an unbelievable bath in my room as well!” she laughed. “Do you know what? That is probably up there as one of the best things I’ve ever received. We’ll name it and everything. He’s cute.”

Michelle’s piano

Not only was Michelle Agyemang keeping us entertained on the pitch with game changing moments, the musically talented forward was doing the same off the pitch for her team-mates, giving a special performance on her piano.

“Kev, our kitman, brought out the piano – he drove it in a van,” she said. “Especially after training when we’re back and we have free time until dinner, that’s my favourite time to go and play. Lotte came over and asked if I could play the piano for her – she came to my room and I played a few things for her.”

Sourdough starters

Michelle Agyemang wasn’t the only one who brought some home comforts out to Switzerland, either. Lotte Wubben-Moy explained that she is an avid baker of sourdough bread on That Lionesses Podcast and how that came into play at the tournament.

“Stuart our chef, has been looking after my ‘mother’,” she explained. “But it's not the kind of mother you'd think. It's a sourdough-starter 'mother'. This is a scientific term – the 'mother' is the birth-giving, she's the one providing and you take some of the 'mother' away and that's what you add to the sourdough and then the mother continues to live.”

The famous scoreboard

As the tournament progressed in the tournament and England advanced through the group and knockout stages, Lucy Bronze took on the responsibility of updating the wall chart displaying all the individual scores from each game across EURO 2025 – a job which she relished, especially when it came to updating the scoreline from Basel.

“Grace was like, ‘I can’t wait to fill this out!’ I was like, ‘no, no no – that’s my job,” recalled Bronze. “That’s the only thing you need to give me’. I can remember the first time doing it. I think it just started because you’re in your first few tournaments when you’re younger and you don’t expect to play but you’re so excited.”

Monopoly and jigsaws

The Lionesses bounced back from defeat in their opening game against France with an impressive 4-0 victory over the Netherlands and after the game, Lucy Bronze revealed how the players refocused before a huge match-up with some board games and jigsaws.

“I think it was really calm before the game, to be honest,” said Bronze. “It was like, I think Leah, Keira, Tooney, Less, Beth, they were playing Monopoly. I was building a jigsaw with Micha and Maya all morning. We were pretty calm, we knew what we had to do.”

Love Island nights

One of the group’s favourite bonding activities was watching Love Island together and there was a familiar face on the show this year, with Alessia Russo’s brother, Giorgio, heading for the villa, as she explained in the Diary Room earlier in the tournament.

“We’ve all been watching as a team,” said Russo. “When my brother was in it, I didn’t really like watching it with loads of people so I’d just watch it with Tooney and Beth maybe and then we’d have a debrief over breakfast. He’s out of it now so hopefully he’ll be coming out to Switzerland.”

Dynamic duo

Of course, we can’t forget the link-up of the summer – the duo the world didn’t know it needed – Sarina Wiegman and Burna Boy. The Lionesses head coach was surprised on stage at the homecoming celebration outside Buckingham Palace with her favourite artist to perform one of his hits.

“I was very flabbergasted,” she said, in the aftermath. “But I thought 'I'm going to take my moment with him so let's have a little dance with him', and that was incredible. I like to dance and I like his music but I totally didn't expect him, so it was such a surprise and I think everyone went out of their mind.”

Exploring Zurich

The squad spoke of their love for Zurich, with Bronze explaining how they made their base their own ‘little Wembley’. From swimming in lakes to wandering around the city and riding the trams and trains, Maya Le Tissier – likened to Dora the Explorer by her team-mates – often led the charge.

“Me, Aggie [Beever-Jones] and Anna [Moorhouse] go for a walk every morning and get a coffee,” said Le Tissier, earlier in the tournament. “Everyone else always asks us, "What time were you up today?". I think they might be a bit jealous of our routine, to be honest.”

The coffee dog

The Lionesses had a canine companion travelling around Switzerland with them during EURO 2025. A Cavapoo by the name of Reggie – described as England’s ‘coffee dog’ by Keira Walsh – whose owner is a mobile barista who accompanied the team and provided his services during the tournament.

“I don't think he realises how much he's helped us,” said Walsh, on the team's unofficial mascot. “When we won the game, he came into the meal room afterwards, and we were all so happy to see him, so I think he's definitely been helping the most, it's fair to say."
