England WU17s squad named for Finland double-header

England women's under-17s will be back in action to kick off their 2026-27 season, with matches against the 2027 UEFA WU17 EURO hosts Finland on Thursday 10 September (4.30pm BST) and Sunday 13 September (12pm BST).  

The two fixtures, which take place at Project Liv Arena in Pietarsaari and then Lemonsoft Stadion in Vaasa respectively, will serve as important preparation for the squad as they prepare for round one of qualification for next summer’s finals, with three qualifying games against Belarus, Hungary and Denmark scheduled to be played in December.  

Head coach Kerri Welsh said: “We are really excited to get the new season underway and bring the group together for the first time in what we hope will be an exciting year ahead for us. There is a lot of young talent in this squad, and it will be great to get them some important minutes on the pitch as we prepare for our EURO qualifiers.  

“We know facing Finland will be a tough challenge for us, and as hosts of the 2027 EURO, it’s particularly exciting to face them. These fixtures provide us with the chance to test ourselves against different opposition and see where we are as a group at this early stage in the season.”
