PLAY PARTIALLY-SIGHTED FOOTBALL

England picked up their first win at the IBSA Partially-Sighted Futsal World Championship on Tuesday afternoon with a resounding 7-1 victory over Japan.

Following on from their opening game draw with Ukraine, Duncan Gilchrist's side were in unstoppable form in Antalya as five goals from Douglas Pratt and strikes from John McDougall Neil Atkinson fired the Para Lions to victory.

England took the lead with seven minutes of the first half remaining, as Liam Spinks played a diagonal pass into the area where Pratt fired home from close range.

The second goal followed quickly, as Andy Cahill led a break with a strong run forward from a Japan corner in his own box before picking out captain McDougall who applied the finish to give England a two-goal lead at the break.

It only took two minutes after the restart for England to find a third goal when Adam Lione's shot from the left channel was diverted home by Pratt for his second of the game.

And within seconds of Japan's kick-off, Pratt won possession from a Japan defender before thundering a left-footer into the far corner to complete his hat-trick.

Pratt then turned provider for England's sixth goal as his ball into the box was finished off at the far post by Atkinson.

Japan salvaged a goal back with just under six minutes remaining, but Pratt restored the six-goal advantage with his fifth of the game when he placed a shot into the corner after Adam Lione's effort had been saved.

They will now play host nation Türkiye in their final group game on Thursday 13 November (9am GMT).
