Thomas Tuchel assesses 'difficult game' after win over Serbia
A goal apiece for Bukayo Saka and Ebere Eze helped England to a 2-0 victory at Wembley
MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND 2-0 SERBIA
England head coach Thomas Tuchel saw his team extend their World Cup qualifying run to seven wins from seven games, after the Three Lions recorded a 2-0 victory over Serbia at Wembley.
Stunning strikes from Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze sealed the three points, with just one qualifier now remaining when the squad travel to Tirana to face Albania on Sunday afternoon.
And while England’s World Cup spot next summer was already confirmed last month, Tuchel was pleased with his team’s performance in the face of a real test against a team who came into the game with a chance of sealing second spot in the group with a result.
“It was a difficult match,” said Tuchel.
“It was complicated because they knew everything about us and we knew nothing about them.
“Go through the list of players, they are at top clubs, they play in top leagues. They have individual quality, they came with new energy and they made it a final for them.

“I liked the first half a lot. I think we deserved to go up, I think we deserved to have maybe a second goal with Harry's header.
“Second-half, we didn't get the pressing right all the time, they escaped sometimes from the deep build-up into fast attacks so the back four had to work hard to keep the clean sheet.
“We had to overcome some difficult moments but I like it, not everything is easy. Not every win is 2-0, 3-0, 5-0. It is good. We kept a clean sheet and it was decisive in the end.”
Tuchel was also pleased to see the introduction of Foden, Eze and Jude Bellingham from the bench make an impact on the game, with Foden’s crisp pass setting up Eze for a sumptuous finish in the dying stages.
“We had a good impact from the bench,” he added.
“The game became a bit more stretched after we did the subs. We brought on quality players and they wanted to show that.”
