Three Lions Daily: What's coming up for England today?

What happens behind the scenes with the England team during the FIFA World Cup 2026? What does their day look like today, on Friday 3 July? Here you can find out in our Three Lions Daily Briefing.

It has been two days since England's 2-1 win against DR Congo, which means the Three Lions' are now fully focussed on our round of 16 match against Mexico on Monday 6 July (kick-off, 1am BST).

Thomas Tuchel's side will ramp up preparations for a tough test against the co-hosts in Mexico City, as we seek to reach the quarter-finals for the third straight tournament.

Back in training

After a well earned day of rest and recovery on Thursday after the victory over DR Congo, the squad will return to the training pitches on Friday.

The team will train in the morning before lunch, which will be their final session at the Kansas City base before the game in three days' time.

Media duties

At around 1pm after lunch, Tuchel and one of his players will face the media to reflect on the DR Congo victory and look ahead to the clash with Mexico on Monday.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad will undergo some post-training recovery before travelling to Mexico.

Travel

The squad will make the trip to Mexico in the afternoon and arrive by early evening.

Once the group arrive and settle in at their temporary new base, they will have dinner and and rest in the evening, while some players will have treatment bookings.
