The Three Lions goalkeeper draws level with Peter Shilton on the list of World Cup appearances

England's Jordan Pickford has become the Three Lions' joint-highest appearance maker in the FIFA World Cup, after being named in the team to play Mexico in the Round of 16 at the 2026 edition in North America.

The Everton man made his 17th appearance for England, across three tournaments, to draw level with another legendary goalkeeper, Peter Shilton who also featured in three World Cups himself in 1982, 1986 and 1990.

Pickford made his World Cup debut during the 2018 tournament in Russia when England reached the semi-finals, before they followed that up by getting to the last eight at Qatar 2022.

And the former Sunderland star retained his spot as England's number one under Thomas Tuchel in North America, starting in all three of England's group stage games against Croatia, Ghana and Panama and the two knockout stages against DR Congo and Mexico.

Pickford also made his 29th consecutive major tournament appearance for the Three Lions in the game with Mexico.

Three Lions captain Harry Kane is just one appearance away from equalling Shilton's record too, as he's currently in second place.
