England's EURO 2025 heroes Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton have been nominated for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year award for 2025.

The Lionesses pair are on a shortlist of six contenders for the award, with public voting set to open on Thursday 18 December ahead of the ceremony which takes place that evening from 7pm GMT live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

There's also a nomination for their teammate Michelle Agyemang, who is named on a shortlist of three people in the Young Sports Personality Award category.

All three players were an integral part of Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses who lifted the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 title in Switzerland last summer.

Chelsea goalkeeper Hampton enjoyed an impressive campaign, with her two penalty saves in the EURO Final against Spain earning her the player of the match award and also a place in the team of the tournament.

Since then, she received the inaugural Yashin Trophy for the world's best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or awards in November. On top of that, she helped Chelsea to a domestic treble and was the joint winner of the BWSL's Golden Glove award.

Kelly's story of 2025 is equally inspiring. Having previously scored the winning goal to help England win EURO 2022 on home soil, she started the year knowing that her place in the squad for Switzerland was unsure following an injury and lack of football with her club Manchester City.

But a mid-season switch to Arsenal saw her fortunes swing and she proved to be one of Wiegman's most trusted squad members with her performances from the bench proving key to England's eventual success, particularly in the knockout stages.

She scored in the quarter-final penalty shootout against Sweden and then netted a late winner in the semi-final against Italy to set up England's place in the final against Spain.

When that game finished 1-1 after extra time, it was Kelly who struck the decisive spot kick in the penalty shootout which coupled with Hampton's heroics, led to England retaining their title.

They will be up against England Rugby's Ellie Kildunne, darts player Luke Littler, golfer Rory McIlroy and Formula One's Lando Norris for the award.

And Agyemang, who was the youngest member of the Lionesses squad at 19, is nominated alongside Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin for the Young Sports Personality of the Year.

The striker was another player to make a big impact in Switzerland, scoring crucial goals against both Sweden and Italy in the EUROs, to earn herself the young player of the tournament award.

She burst onto the international scene at the start of 2025 when she scored a stunning goal just 41 seconds after coming on as a substitute to make her senior debut against Belgium.

Voting will open on Thursday 18 December when England fans can register their votes for this year's award.
