European Champions Homecoming: Public Guidance

All of the details for people attending Tuesday's event in London to celebrate the Lionesses' EURO 2025 victory

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS HOMECOMING

To celebrate the England women’s football team winning their second successive European Championship, the Lionesses will have a Homecoming celebration on The Mall on Tuesday 29 July 2025, culminating with a staged ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace starting at approximately 12.10pm BST.

The event will not be ticketed, and free to attend. Fans, residents and businesses are encouraged to join the celebration along the route. These celebrations will be hosted by The Football Association, supported by the UK Government.

Key Timings:

• 12.10pm: Homecoming celebration starts with an open-top bus procession along The Mall

• 12.30pm: Start of the live Homecoming celebration staged event at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace

• 1pm: The Homecoming celebration is due to finish

How to watch the Homecoming celebrations

We expect large crowds at the Homecoming celebration so please consider all your viewing options before attending in person and review the guidance below carefully.

At home: The Homecoming celebration will be broadcast live across the BBC, ITV and Sky between 12pm and 1pm, with extensive news coverage being provided throughout the day across BBC, ITN and Sky channels.

In person: The Homecoming celebration will start along The Mall at 12.10pm and will proceed up The Mall in an open-top bus procession before the live Homecoming celebration staged event at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.

Getting to the event

Attendees should use public transport where possible. Please plan your journey in advance using the Transport for London and National Rail Enquiries websites.

Once you have arrived, please move away from any station entry and exit points and follow the signage and steward direction to the Homecoming Celebration route.

Please stay close to your group and avoid getting separated. Hold hands with young children to maintain physical contact. Respect the personal space of those around you. Be mindful of the people behind, in front, and beside you, to ensure that everyone has sufficient room to enjoy the event. Remember not to leave any of your property unattended and report unattended bags or luggage to stewards or police.

For access to The Mall, please use the following stations:

• Green Park (London Underground)
• Piccadilly Circus (London Underground)
• Victoria (London Underground, National Rail)
• Westminster (London Underground)
• Charing Cross (London Underground, National Rail)

Buses: There will be a number of road closures in place around the event. Bus routes will be on diversion in the areas surrounding the Event. Please check before you travel.

Cycling: Cycleway 3 within St James’s Park will be closed between 7am and 6pm on Tuesday 29 July. Cyclists are advised to take an alternative route.

Road: There will be road closures within St James’s Park between the hours of 07:00-18:00 on Tuesday 29 July. There is no parking for the event. Attendees should use public transport where possible.

We expect all routes to be extremely busy. Check Transport for London status updates and National Rail Enquiries latest travel information before you travel, and allow more time than usual for your journey.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Items to bring: Please make sure that you wear suitable clothing for the weather. Be prepared for hot weather and ensure you bring sun protection and a bottle of water. There will be water refill stations on The Mall which can be found here.

Please make use of existing establishments and bring food and snacks with you. Please dispose of litter using the litter and recycling bins provided.

This is a celebratory event. Please do bring your flags, whistles and horns to show your appreciation of our victorious England team.

Please do not bring stools or folding chairs to the event viewing areas, as they obstruct the flow of movement and can create a hazard. Please see the instructions below, if you require access to the accessible viewing area.

Remember not to leave any of your property unattended and report unattended bags or luggage to stewards or police.

Items not to bring: Please do not bring items such as smoke flares, fireworks, tents, chairs or BBQs. Camping within St James’s Park or in the viewing area is prohibited. As well as being unsafe, it is an offence to set off fireworks in a public place and to set of flares within 50 metres of a highway.

Please avoid bringing glass items, such as bottles or drinking glasses, to the event. Broken glass is a hazard to other visitors.

Use of drones is strictly prohibited in St James's Park and may result in your being ejected from the event.

Travelling With Children & Vulnerable Adults: If you are travelling as a family with small children, please ensure that you leave plenty of time to arrive at the event. Please ensure children are under the constant supervision of a responsible adult and keep them within sight and reach at all times.

Establish a meeting point with your children in case you become separated. Instruct them to approach a uniformed event staff, security officer, or a police officer, for assistance if needed. It is advisable to write your contact information down and give this to your child or ensure it is on their person in case of separation. Please encourage your child to share this information with a trusted adult if they need help.

First Aid: There will be first aid points along The Mall. Please refer to the public map for locations. If you need first aid support during the event, please tell a steward and they will be able to assist you.

Accessibility: The event is free to access and available to all. There is an accessible viewing area that will be located by Buckingham Palace at the end of The Mall, in St. James’s Park, please refer to the accessible viewing map here:

There is limited availability for this viewing area. If you wish to use this accessible viewing area, you will need to pre-book, please email accessibility@victorycelebration.co.uk for more information. Access cannot be guaranteed to this viewing area, and no access will be provided without pre-booking. There will be curb ramps for areas where a drop kerb is otherwise blocked by barrier.

Only one carer per person will be permitted to the accessible viewing area. Guide dogs or other assistance dogs are permitted at the event.

There will be mainstage BSL interpreters and an induction loop and accessible units along The Mall and mobiloo toilets. We recommend you use Victoria Station to access this area.

Conduct and behaviour:
Follow the instructions of stewards, event staff and police at all times. This is a celebratory event, and we anticipate there to be a large number of families in attendance.

Please do not throw items in front of the players’ buses on The Mall, as this can cause harm to the players and delays to the event. You will not be permitted to follow the procession on the route behind the open top buses.

Excessive alcohol consumption is not recommended, and any anti-social behaviour will be dealt with accordingly. Please listen to the advice of stewards and police to stay safe.

Respect your surroundings. Please stick to footpaths, do not damage or remove plants, and do not attempt to climb or attach anything to trees, lampposts, statues, railings or other street furniture or event infrastructure.

There will be a steward and police presence at the event and along The Mall.

Leaving the event:
Please be aware that roads that were used during the event may be live with traffic by the time you leave. Please use the appropriate pathways and crossing points. After the events, remember to check the latest travel information before your onward journey. Service updates may have changed.

Please leave the viewing areas quietly so you do not disturb people who live nearby.
