Jarrod Bowen and Kieran Trippier have not travelled with the rest of the England squad for the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia.
Newcastle United’s Trippier has remained in the UK owing to a personal matter while West Ham United forward Bowen is awaiting assessment on an injury he picked up this weekend.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, England head coach Gareth Southgate said: “Unfortunately, Jarrod picked up an injury. He felt it a little bit yesterday and then again at the end of training today so we didn’t really have enough time to assess it fully and make an accurate decision before the game, so we felt it was better to leave him in England so he can get it properly assessed.
“I don't think it's going to be anything serious, but we just didn't have enough time to assess it and we wouldn't take a risk in that situation.”

Norwich City forward Jonathan Rowe and Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle will play no part in England MU21s’ upcoming 2025 UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers against Serbia and Northern Ireland, with both players returning to their respective clubs for further assessment.
Aston Villa's Jamie Wright has also been called into the England men's Elite League squad for their trip to play Germany, with Archie Gray returning to Leeds United as originally planned.

Jay Stansfield has joined the England MU21s squad ahead of their 2025 UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers against Serbia and Northern Ireland.
The forward, on loan at Birmingham City from Fulham, was initially included in the Men’s Elite League squad by interim head coach Ben Futcher but he will now join Lee Carsley’s group following the England senior team call ups for Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer.
Leeds United’s Archie Gray has now moved across from the MU19s to be part of the Men’s Elite League squad who face Italy at Doncaster Rovers on Thursday 16 November and Germany in Regensburg on Monday 20 November.

Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill will play no part in England’s forthcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
The pair arrived at St. George’s Park for assessments on Monday but will now return to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively to continue their rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips will meet up later this week owing to personal matters.

Ezri Konsa, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis have received their first call up to the England senior squad.
Aston Villa defender Konsa was a 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner and also won seven caps for the MU21s, during which he added the 2018 Toulon Tournament to his international honours.
Chelsea forward Palmer has represented England from U15s upwards. He has 15 MU21 caps, scoring on five occasions, and lifted the U21 EURO last summer.
Manchester City’s Lewis is another who has progressed through the England pathway. Like Palmer, the 18-year-old was originally included in Lee Carsley’s MU21 squad with four caps to his name for that age group.
The trio’s addition follows the withdrawal of James Maddison, Lewis Dunk and Callum Wilson across the course of the weekend.
The majority of Gareth Southgate’s squad are due to report to St. George’s Park on Monday with further assessments to take place.
