ENGLAND MU19S HOME

England men’s under-19s continued their strong start to their UEFA U19 EURO 2026 qualifying campaign, building on victory over Lithuania with a resounding 7-0 win over Latvia.

It took just two minutes for the Young Lions to make the breakthrough. Chris Rigg released Rio Ngumoha down the left channel, before the latter cut inside and let fly from outside the box with a curling effort.

Around ten minutes later, England added a second. Jesse Derry was tripped inside the penalty area, resulting in a spot kick which Divine Mukasa stepped up to take, sending the Latvian keeper the wrong way.

Derry added his name to the scoresheet later in the half. Will Antwi’s side won back possession in the opposition half as Max Dowman raced into the box before finding Derry who blasted the ball home for England’s third.

With five minutes remaining until the interval, it was four. The Young Lions found space down the left once again as goalscorer Mukasa played in Rigg who timed his run to perfection, trying his luck with a looping effort which dipped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

After the break, Derry bagged himself a brace as England capitalised on a mix-up at the back between the Latvian defence, allowing the forward to tap into an empty net.

And with just over an hour played, Derry completed his hat-trick, combining with Trey Nyoni in a neat passing move which ended with Derry taking aim from the edge of the box as his effort kissed the post on its way in.

Mukasa made it two from two from the spot after England were awarded a second penalty of the game. Substitute Jeremy Monga was brought down before Mukasa confidently rolled the ball in from 12 yards – the Young Lions’ seventh.
