England squad report for World Cup duty

Gareth Southgate's squad assembled at St. George's Park on Monday morning ahead of trip to Qatar

England's squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 reported for duty on Monday morning, as preparations for this winter's competition continue to build up.

Gareth Southgate and his staff welcomed each of the 26 players as they arrived at St. George's Park in advance of their trip to Qatar.

Among those arriving were James Maddison and Callum Wilson, who were both recalled to the squad after catching the eye with their performances for Leicester City and Newcastle United.

From here, the group will fly to their World Cup base in Doha on Tuesday morning giving them six days to prepare for their World Cup opener against Iran on Monday 21 November.

The squad will have their first training session in Qatar on Wednesday at the Al Wakrah Sports Complex, and fans will be able to catch up with the latest from the camp when the Lions' Den with M&S Food returns for the first show in the new series on Thursday.

Following their opening game, England will face two more group games against USA on Friday 25 November and then a meeting with Wales on Tuesday 29 November before the World Cup heads into the knockout stages.
